On Sunday, August 3, from about noon to 6, we held our annual Festival of St. Anna, in honor of the miraculous myrrh-streaming icon of St. Anna and the Theotokos, her daughter, which we are blessed to house. There was Russian food and crafts, religious books and icons, candle, honey, soap, and many other items for sale. The nuns of Holy Protection Convent brought down an assortment of items from their convent bookstore. At 9:30 a .m. we had a great blessing of holy water before the liturgy; at 3 p.m. was the akathist to St. Anna, followed around 4 by a procession with the icon around the block.
Over 500 people joined us. We also had a number of people assist with the cleanup afterwards.
Our parish's patronal feast, for the icon of the Theotokos, the Joy of All Who Sorrow (with coins), was on Tuesday August 5. The divine liturgy was at 10 a.m.; vespers was the night before (Monday) at 6:30 p.m. This is the 120th anniversary of the revelation of that icon.
We also celebrated the feast of St. Anna itself on Thursday August 7, with the divine liturgy at 10 a.m. and a vigil the night before (Wednesday) at 6:30 p.m.
